In the first two weeks of an infant's life, while their bodies become accustomed to all this extra space they have, they curl up sweetly into the fetal position. The first two weeks are also the time when the baby experiences long stretches of sleep (usually 3 hours) during the day after being fed.

For these reasons, photographing a newborn in the first 14 days of life is generally thought to be the most opportune time.

Newborns are best photographed between 5-12 days
